The driver of a car involved in a collision with a group of cyclists in which three people died near Morrinsville last month has been charged in relation to the incident.
Waikato District Road Policing Manager, Inspector Leo Tooman, said today a 23-year-old Matamata woman had been charged with three counts of careless driving causing death.
She would appear in Morrinsville District Court on December 15.
Mr Tooman said the accident which happened on the Walton-Morrinsville Rd on November 14 had affected four families and he hoped would serve as a reminder of just how quickly situations on the road could change.
"No one wants to see a repeat of what happened, the important thing to remember is the importance of all drivers to maintain their situational awareness and be aware of the conditions at all times."
Kay Heather Wolfe, 45, died in hospital five days after the accident. Mark Andrew Ferguson, 46, and Wilhelm Muller, 71, died at the scene.
