A teenager initially critically injured in a crash just over a week ago has since died in hospital.
Police today named Melanie Dangel, 19, as the victim of the crash on the intersection of State Highway 25 and Hauraki Rd, Thames, on November 24.
A statement said members of the Dangel family had flown to New Zealand following the accident.
Emergency services were called to the site that Friday afternoon after reports that a car and truck had collided.
Dangel was a passenger in the car. The driver of the car was seriously injured, while the truck driver was said to be uninjured.
