An Auckland teenage driver has appeared in court today charged with causing the death of a passenger who died after he was impaled on a metal rod.
Andrew Fausia faces two charges of driving while disqualified and reckless driving causing the death of David Sionepulu.
The unemployed 19-year-old entered no plea and was remanded to reappear in the Auckland District Court on February 14.
Justice of the Peace David Grove granted Fausia bail to a Glenn Innes address.
He stipulated multiple conditions on Fausia's bail including a 12 hour night-time curfew, not communicating or attempting to communicate with the dead passenger's family or two other witnesses.
