One person has been arrested following the theft of a car at knifepoint in Counties Manukau this afternoon.
The car was stolen in Mangatawhiri, Franklin County, about 3pm and located 20 minutes later travelling north on the Southern Motorway, Detective Sergeant Chris Barry said.
Police patrol cars and the Eagle helicopter pursued the vehicle until it stopped in McRobbie Rd in Kingseat, he said.
A knife was found in the vehicle.
A person will appear in Manukau District Court tomorrow charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, possession of an offensive weapon, failing to stop for police and dangerous driving.
