A Carterton man found guilty of refusing to give blood has been disqualified indefinitely.
Kieran Christopher Kelly, 49, had argued at a defended hearing held in February that he hadn't refused blood and the officer involved had determined from his actions that he was refusing when he wasn't.
He claimed he had been taking pain killers which had affected his driving and behaviour but presiding Judge John Bergseng found him guilty of refusing to give blood.
He'd been stopped by police at the southern end of Carterton on July 26 last year after his car was witnessed being driven erratically, pulling into the path of oncoming traffic and weaving across the centre line, forcing motorists to take evasive action.
Appearing before Judge Ian Mill in the Masterton District Court last week, Kelly was convicted of refusing to give blood and was sentenced to nine months' supervision, fined $600, ordered to pay $130 court costs and disqualified from driving indefinitely.
