A courier truck driver has admitted a careless driving causing injury charge after backing into a young mother, leaving her leg "practically severed".
Shaymvedh's CourierPost truck pinned Grey Lynn mother-of-two Preeya Patel against a wall in Auckland's Richmond Rd in February.
Mrs Patel's leg was badly injured in what one witness described as an "absolutely horrid" scene.
In the Auckland District Court today Shaymvedh, 58, admitted a charge of careless and inconsiderate driving causing injury.
He will be sentenced next month and faces a maximum penalty of three months' jail or a $4500 fine as well as a mandatory loss of his driver's licence for six months.
