A repeat drink-driver who knew he was a danger on the roads drove himself to a police station, Ashburton District Court has been told.
Trevor Thomas Molloy, 56, unemployed of Rakaia, was convicted today of driving with an excess breath alcohol level of 824mcg/l on July 11.
He has six drink-driving convictions.
The court was told that about 3am on July 11, he drove to Rakaia police station and told the sole officer he knew he was over the limit and wanted to hand his keys in.
The court was told Molloy thought he'd been driven to the police station by a friend called Sam. It turned out Molloy had initially got Sam to drive him but he had dropped him at a nearby house then walked home. Molloy then drove himself the rest of the way to the police station.
