Drink drive blitzes working - police

Police on Auckland's North Shore have a feeling their drink drive blitzes are working.

More than 40 drivers have been caught over the limit in the latest operation, with more than 9000 vehicles checked. But the ratio of drunk drivers out of the total number pulled over is down significantly.

Senior Sergeant Shanan Gray hopes the reduction is because drivers are finally getting the message.

He says people who think they can get away with it can count on police to be out testing drivers at any time and any place.
