On Wednesday the 3rd of August in beautiful conditions the women played an HPMC stableford competition and it was definitely Heather Draper's day. She arrived in with 41 stableford points and took out the Pukemanu nearest the Pin, and had an easy tap in for her two.
Adele Cairns was also in on 41 points and scored a two, followed by Bev Tibbs on 38 points and Jane Terpstra had 37 points.
Partners have been drawn for the annual Martin Fourball matchplay competition so best of luck everybody.
The Bronze Pennants team are second in their zone .
The nine holers played a hidden hole competition and first was Carol Parkinson followed by Rachel Colton and Denise Lazelle.
Closest to the pin was Rachel Colton.
Taking advantage of the gorgeous weather we have been having, the Thursday Club turned out in force for some great golf. The result was holes in two by Ben Masters, Terry Blacktop, Pete Smith, Ray Lind Adrian Blackett and Graham Jacobson who scored a double. Seven holes in two!
The All Teed Up nearest the pin was won by Graham McFarlane.
The stableford competition was won by Ben Masters with a amazing 49 points, and has just got his handicap. He has a good future in the club. He was followed by Bill Jones on 43, Brian Tucker, Graham Jacobson on 40 and Terry Blacktop on 41.Bob Smith had 40 points and Ed Elworthy and Adrian Blackett were on 39.
We were promised a report from last week's lower North Island all male golfing tour but apparently what happens on the bus stays on the bus. All the same, we did learn that Darren, especially, enjoyed the fruits of his labours and some players certainly looked a little paler than usual on their returns.
The weekend saw medal rounds played and on Saturday Adrin Blackett took top honours with a nett 64 followed by Peter Bain nett 68 and Bill Jones nett 69.
The two scorers were Peter Bain, Garry Paterson, Bob Goodley, Kerry Jenson and Derek Stephens had two of them and on Sunday Ash Reed, Bill Jones and Ian Henderson were all in with nett 72.
Trevor Hawkins and Ian Henderson scored twos.
The best putters over the weekend were Peter Bain, Derek Stephens and Graham Kerr.
Remember to get your names up for the club championships and the lefties/righties 36 hole tournament the latter is on the 21st August.
