A hunter fell into a river and was rescued and revived by his hunting companion this afternoon.
The Philips Search and Rescue Trust said in a statement the incident occurred in the Ruatahuna valley in the Urewera Ranges.
The 76-year-old hunter had fallen into a river and had to be pulled out by his companion.
He had stopped breathing so the other man engaged CPR and the man was revived.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter, which got the call at 4.30pm, landed at a camping ground in a steep valley and a St John paramedic assessed the man before he was flown to Rotorua Hospital.
