The New Zealand Union of Students Associations has launched a campaign promoting independence from debt by increasing access to student support.
Co-president Paul Falloon says student debt is increasing by one billion dollars each year, which is totally unsustainable. He says a universal student allowance is smart banking and an investment in New Zealand's future.
Mr Falloon says the Government must take action now to prevent more students heading offshore.
