KEY POINTS:
Blockhouse Bay solo mother Annie Hensby has raised the $1700 she needs to get donated goods to poor villagers in Fiji - and bonus plane tickets for herself and Fijian friend Kavai Velavela to make sure the goods get to the right people.
Ms Hensby was "absolutely overwhelmed" by readers who responded to a report in Monday's Herald about the cash still needed to transport medical supplies, books and clothing donated by Auckland children at shows by Purple Productions' school entertainers.
She now plans similar Performers 4 Poverty shows in schools at least annually. "I now know I don't have to do it all on my own."
