One of the women, named as Nikisha Green on Givealittle, was on a "long road to recovery" and a donations page had been set up to help her with costs as she healed from her crash injuries.
So far more than $500 has been pledged by 14 donors.
"Please help Nikisha's long road to recovery as she battles through her extensive injuries by giving a little to help her and her whanau during this difficult time," wrote Carolyn Henare, who set up the page.
The amount of support being provided to Ms Green and her family was "overwhelming," she said.
"Nikisha has a long road ahead of her and is likely to spend some months in hospital while she recovers from her injuries.
"The purpose for setting up this page is due to the overwhelming response of Nikisha's friends and whanau who want to help her with donations which will go a long way to supporting the whanau who have travelled to be with her while she is in hospital."
Four people were in one of the vehicles involved in Friday's crash -- a 21-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man, a 26-year-old man and a 4-year-old boy.
The oncoming vehicle had four people inside -- a 38-year-old man, 18-year-old woman and a 7-year-old girl.
All seven were taken to Gisborne Hospital and the 21-year-old woman was flown out to Waikato Hospital that night in a critical but stable condition.
She remained in a critical but stable condition in the hospital's intensive care unit as of yesterday afternoon.
