Tens of thousands of dollars has been donated to help the recovery of two police officers shot by Napier gunman Jan Molenaar.
Senior Constables Bruce Miller and Grant Diver were discharged from Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital on Friday night.
Police Association Hawkes Bay director Luke Shadbolt said the money had gone into two funds. One was a mayoral fund for "casualties of the police shooting", including injured civilian Leonard Holmwood, and the other account was a "police welfare fund" for the families of the police victims.
Not all the donations came in monetary form. A police officer was lending two recliner chairs to help Mr Miller and Mr Diver relax as they recovered at home.
