The Christchurch City Mission is expecting a full house on Christmas morning, saying demand is already high in the lead up to the big day.
City Missioner, Michael Gorman, says food parcels have been in hot demand - with dozens more than usual flying out the door.
"Christmas is always a fairly busy time so we expect to give out more food parcels at Christmas time, however 75 is quite a lot in a day," he says.
Mr Gorman says most people needing the parcels have been badly shaken by the year's quakes - many losing their jobs, homes and loved ones.
He says they still need donations, particularly of hams, to make sure they can feed up to 700 people on Christmas Day.
