Donated barrow helps Supergrans

Wairarapa Supergrans have been given a wheelbarrow to replace one stolen from their community garden in the last few weeks.

The garden was created in September and is near the Wairarapa Community Centre in Perry St.

Manager Marie McAnulty said burglars took a wheelbarrow, hose reel and hose from the site.

"I don't mind if they borrow it, but they should ask us if they're taking it."

She sent a letter to the Times-Age appealing for the burglars to return the items - no questions asked - but had not yet got them back.

Instead, a Supergrans member had given the group a wheelbarrow of her own.

"That was really nice," she said.

Supergrans have increased security in the area.
