Ramblers
Hugh Taylor took advantage of a bye day in Wellington premier hockey by recording the day's fastest time when Ruamahanga Ramblers held a cross-country event at Rex Mackay's Longbush farm on Saturday.
In what was his first appearance this winter, Taylor was treated kindly by the handicapper after claiming he hadn't been doing much running lately and after starting in the middle of the field, he blitzed his opposition.
Not surprisingly he was the subject of some good-natured ribbing during the post-race festivities.
There was a strong effort too from Malcolm MacDonald who wasn't impressed by his starting position at the back of the field.
