What started as a domestic incident in suburban Rotorua turned into a drug bust.
Six marked police cars turned up at a Barron Cres house in the Rotorua suburb of Fenton Park after calls of a domestic incident.
However, after looking around the house, police found several cannabis plants and stolen property.
Senior Sergeant Dennis Murphy of the Rotorua police said a concerned neighbour phoned police about 7.15am.
"An arrest was made in relation to a domestic incident," he said.
"But when police were there a number of cannabis plants and stolen property were found at the address."
Mr Murphy could not reveal how many cannabis plants were found or what charges the man was facing. He said the accused man had appeared in the Rotorua District Court yesterday morning.
A Barron Cres resident, who did not want to be identified, said police were seen carrying two rubbish bags to a police car.
