The woman crushed by a dolphin in a freak accident on Boxing Day has been discharged from hospital.
Kelly James, 27, of Pukekohe, was crushed by a 300kg bottlenose dolphin after it leaped from the water and landed on top of her while she was in a boat off the Coromandel Peninsula.
Ms James, who suffered life-threatening injuries, spent several weeks in Auckland City Hospital's intensive-care unit.
A hospital spokeswoman said she would need ongoing care.
