Firefighters saved four dogs from a Waikato housefire yesterday.
Fire communications spokesman Jaron Phillips said when firefighters arrived at the house in McAndrew St, Kihihiki shortly before 4pm, they were worried people may have been inside.
"There was some concern they may have been in the house, so firefighters searched the house and in the process they rescued four dogs.''
No one was home at the time of the fire, which is believed to have broken out in the house's roof.
Fire investigators were continuing an investigation at the scene today.
