KEY POINTS:
Hastings police are appealing for information about dog attacks on sheep in Havelock North. Eight of the sheep attacked last night had to be put down because of their injuries.
Constable Andy Clinton said it is not clear if there was more than one dog involved. He said anyone with stock in the area of Kopanga Road needs to keep a special eye on them.
Constable Clinton said the scene was horrific. He said the animals suffered numerous lacerations to their throat, and some had to be put down because their injuries did not kill them.
