A woman who fell and injured herself on rocks is recovering in Hutt Hospital after being discovered by a pair of dogs.
The 44-year-old had been walking at the Bridge Road reservoir near Upper Hutt late on Sunday when she slipped and fell spending all night lying semi-conscious on cold rocks.
The next morning Linda Fowler was out jogging in the area when her Staffordshire bull terriers disappeared into the bush and started howling.
"I kept calling them but they wouldn't come back," she told The Dominion Post.
She went to investigate and found the injured woman who was hard to spot as she was dressed in black and between trees.
"I thought she was part of the rocks. I couldn't see what the dogs were barking at."
She said the woman had a head wound and was disoriented.
Ms Fowler ran a kilometre to raise the alarm while another woman on the track comforted the injured walker until an ambulance arrived.
