A dog urinating on a freezer angered its owner so much he threw things at his partner.
Joseph Albert Warehinga pleaded guilty to one charge of breach a protection order in Masterton District Court on Thursday.
Lawyer Jock Blathwayt said Warehinga had consumed a "couple of cans of bourbon" on the beach when he went home to try and resolve matters with his partner. He was "feeling depressed" and he and his partner had not spoken for about a fortnight at the time.
Mr Blathwayt said the dog then "urinated on the freezer" so Warehinga stomped around making noise.
Judge Tony Walsh said Warehinga had directed his anger toward the victim. "She was clearly frightened by what he was doing".
