An irate Hamilton dog owner who attempted to retrieve his dog from the pound found himself in the doghouse after allegedly becoming aggressive towards staff.
The man's dog was removed from a property by council staff on Monday.
Waikato police spokesman Andrew McAlley said today police were called to Hamilton City Council Animal Control Centre yesterday after the man went to retrieve his dog.
Staff were just about to hand over the animal when its owner became aggressive, throwing a kennel and smashing a door before fleeing in a vehicle.
Police later stopped a vehicle and took a man into custody.
