The Department of Conservation (DOC) and dog control officers are considering pressing charges against the owner of a dog alleged to have mauled a seal in Nelson.
The young seal died of its injuries following the attack on the city's waterfront about 9.30am on Saturday, The Nelson Mail reported.
Both DOC and dog control were investigating the incident and considering taking action against the dog owner.
