An Ashburton toddler, bitten by a dog last week, remains in a critical but stable condition in Auckland's Starship Hospital.
The three-year-old was bitten in the throat by a relative's Doberman Staffordshire bull terrier cross in Ashburton more than a week ago.
He was transferred from Christchurch Hospital to Auckland's Starship Hospital on Friday so he could receive specialist paediatric intensive care attention.
He underwent a second round of surgery on Saturday morning, following surgery on Wednesday night - just hours after he was attacked.
The police investigation into the attack has concluded, with no charges to be laid, and the investigation is now in the hands of the Ashburton District Council.
