A six-year-old boy viciously attacked by dog this week remains in a serious condition in hospital.
The Paengaroa boy received life-threatening injuries to his face when he was set upon six days ago.
He was taken to Tauranga Hospital and later transferred by the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Starship Hospital, where he received surgery before being moved to a specialist unit at Middlemore Hospital for more surgery.
Counties Manukau District Health Board spokeswoman Lauren Young said this morning the boy was still in the hospital's intensive care unit.
"He's serious, but stable."
