KEY POINTS:
West Auckland police were last night hunting a "dodgy predator", who stopped his car alongside a 15-year-old schoolgirl before allegedly sexually assaulting her yesterday.
Inspector Earle McIntosh of the police northern communication centre said the girl, wearing a grey school uniform, was walking along Hobsonville Rd near the Hobsonville RSA when a white, late-model hatchback pulled up beside her between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
Mr McIntosh would not say how the girl ended up in the man's car, what the man did to the girl, or how she escaped him, but he said the man was a "dodgy predator" and urged the public to be vigilant. The man is described as dark-skinned, aged in his 40s and of solid to fat build.
Police are concerned about the incident and want to hear from anyone who might have seen the schoolgirl, who had long blonde hair, around the time of yesterday's attack, as well as anyone who had seen the man's car. "This person might have been around that area for the day or in the previous days," Mr McIntosh said.
