KEY POINTS:
A South Auckland doctor has been found guilty of excessively prescribing a drug used to make methamphetamine.
The Health and Disciplinary Tribunal also found Rhys Cullen guilty of collecting prescriptions written for patients at his South Auckland clinic without their knowledge.
The tribunal was told Dr Cullen obtained more that 46,000 Sudomyl tablets, which contain pseudoephedrine, over a two-year period.
Dr Cullen said he procured the drug for research purposes.
The tribunal has reserved its decision on his punishment.
