A doctor and former Waikato District Health Board member is before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal for a week-long hearing on misconduct counts this week.
David Gilgen, who stood down at the October health board elections, is charged with two counts of professional misconduct.
His hearing started in Hamilton yesterday. He lost his High Court appeal for name suppression ahead of the hearing.
Dr Gilgen faces one charge of forging a colleague's signature on a script while he was suspended, and one of ordering medications over the internet.
