Northland police are hunting a man who bashed and robbed a woman doctor in Kawakawa on Tuesday night.
Police said the doctor was confronted between 7pm and 8pm at her home near the hospital by a young Maori or Polynesian who bashed her and took a small amount of cash.
The doctor, in her 40s, was bruised and cut and required treatment at Kawakawa Hospital.
Northland police communications officer Sarah Kennett said the offender was described as aged between 15 and 20, of thin build, and about 175cm tall with short hair.
Ms Kennett said the man had been seen earlier with a gold or tan-coloured dog on a lead.
Police have released an identikit picture of the man and are urging anyone in the area who have had their property interfered with or witnessed suspicious activity to contact Kawakawa police.
