DOC to give kiwi bird flu vaccine

The Department of Conservation intends to vaccinate kiwi before bird flu hits.

New Zealand health and emergency services believe a pandemic could last up to six months and say people should be prepared to stay indoors.

On the West Coast, health authorities say several hundred people could die from bird flu but the department believes kiwi will be particularly susceptible.
