The Department of Conservation has been accused of fast-tracking job cuts with a sham consultation process, now it has confirmed the loss of 140 positions.
The department today confirmed it would go ahead with a restructuring proposal, announced late last month.
The announcement comes just over a week since submissions from DoC staff closed.
Forest & Bird advocacy manager Kevin Hackwell said it would have taken DoC management more than a week to read the more than 1000 submissions it received.
"The haste with which this is being done shows that this restructuring is politically driven rather than having anything to do with finding efficiencies."
