It is now possible to reserve books to yourself at any time from the Masterton library, thanks to an online self-issue system.
To access the service, customers register a password, allowing them to reserve books. It allows users to browse online and reserve items for collection.
Library charges can be paid with a library card once it has been pre-loaded with credit.
Council spokeswoman Ruth Cox said reserving would be the only way to guarantee being able to borrow a book of choice.
Books could be reserved even before they were published.
