Children's kites filled the sky in Manukau yesterday for the Colour The Sky kite festival.
The festival aimed to bring together different cultures and celebrate the cultural diversity of Manukau through kite flying.
Primary-school pupils in Cockle Bay and Flat Bush learned about different kinds of kites from around the world before stringing together their own creations.
There were also guest kite makers and kite flyers at the free family-oriented event organised by the Manukau City Council events team. This is the second year the festival has been held.
