Motorists in South Auckland face diversions after a collision between two trucks today created an oil spill.
The collision on Great South Rd, Penrose, at about midday, led to one truck driver being taken to Middlemore Hospital for treatment to his back.
The other truck driver was shaken but uninjured.
Sergeant Vaughn McAllister of Otahuhu police said the injured man's truck was rear-ended by the other truck.
Diversions have been put in place around Industry Rd and Church St East and are expected to remain in place into the evening.
It was unclear how much diesel was spilled in the crash but firefighters said they had prevented it from getting into waterways.
