A man has died after suffering a heart attack while diving off the coast near Masterton this afternoon.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at the north end of the Riversdale Beach about 2pm.
The man was pulled from the water and given CPR by a team of about five surf lifesaving staff as they waited for the Life Flight Westpac Rescue Helicopter to arrive, but the man died on the beach before the helicopter's arrival.
Police are in the process of identifying the man and will then notify his next of kin.
