A diver was airlifted to Wellington Hospital yesterday afternoon apparently suffering from the bends, or decompression sickness.
Wellington Westpac rescue helicopter staff said the 40-year-old man got into trouble at Seal Rock, on the South Coast of Wairarapa, at around 3.30pm. Other beach users came to the man's aid.
