The bloody remains of a slaughtered sheep were found at South Featherston school yesterday morning to much disgust.
"It's very disturbing," said Margie Sutherland, the school principal. "We've had a sheep slaughtered in the school grounds, they've thrown all the entrails into the garden, including a full term baby lamb."
Ms Sutherland was able to clear up the mess before schoolchildren arrived.
"It's disgusting, I can't believe anyone would do that at a school," said Ms Sutherland.
She said a trail of blood remained near the garden but the kids hadn't noticed.
"I needed to dig a big hole to bury it."
The sheep killer had also driven a car into the school grounds.
The sheep was stolen from the school's neighbours, who own sheep and cattle.
Police were notified.
