A trustee of the Disabled Children's Trust has admitted stealing $6000 from the trust's bank account.
David Charles Williamson, a 59-year-old salesman from the Christchurch suburb of Yaldhurst , pleaded guilty to six charges of obtaining cash by deception at an appearance before Judge Jane Farish in the Christchurch District Court today.
Williamson was described in court as a trustee of the Disabled Children's Trust and the Hope for Children Charitable Foundation.
He had no lawyer and Judge Farish suggested that he get legal advice before his sentencing on March 21.
He admitted transferring $1000 from the trust's bank account into his own bank account on six occasions from April to October 2008.
He told the police that he believed he was entitled to the money. Some of it had been used to pay electricity bills.
Police are seeking $6000 reparations for the offending.
Williamson was remanded on bail for sentence, with Judge Farishing ordering a pre-sentence report to cover his suitability for home detention, and a victim impact statement from the trust.
