A mediator is trying to get junior doctors and the district health boards back to the negotiating table.
Resident doctors were back on the job this morning after a two day strike, but plan to walk out again in two weeks unless they can reach a pay settlement with DHBs.
They are seeking a 30 per cent pay rise over three years, which the DHBs say is too much.
Spokesman Spiro Anastasiou says the DHBs have approached a mediator to set up a meeting with the Resident Doctors Union on Monday.
