One of the men jailed last year for defrauding the Otago District Health Board of nearly $17 million plans to appeal the length of his non-parole period.
In December Michael Swann, 47, the DHB's former chief information technology officer, was sentenced to 9-1/2 years' jail with a non-parole period of 4-1/2 years.
His friend and partner in crime, Kerry Harford, 48, was jailed for four years and three months.
Swann's lawyer Jon Beck told the Otago Daily Times the length of sentence was not being appealed, only the non-parole period.
In most cases it was closer to a third of the total sentence.
Swann and Harford's offending took place over six years.
They used 196 invoices from Sonnford Solutions, a company formed by Harford, to charge the board $16.9 million for IT-related services that were never provided.
