KEY POINTS:
The Waitemata District Health Board chairwoman has quit her position citing inadequate funding to deliver proper services.
Kay McKelvie, who was recently awarded the QSO in the New Year honours, will leave her post at the end of this month.
The decision was precipitated in part by the recent funding allocation the board received for 2009/10 which "doesn't adequately take into account the increase in population in the Waitemata district", Ms McKelvie said.
"The board has always prided itself on meeting budget but delivering adequate services to our population and remaining financially responsible is an increasing challenge," she said.
