The chief executive of the heavily indebted Capital and Coast District Health Board, Ken Whelan, is quitting in September after nearly 2 years in the job.
Mr Whelan, who took up the job in 2008, oversaw the completion of the new regional hospital at Wellington. It cost $377 million but the board finished $21.6m in debt last year.
