The head of the police investigation into the shotgun killing of Feilding farmer Scott Guy is disappointed by the "minimal response" from the public to appeals for information.
Detective Inspector Sue Schwalger has urged people to call the phone line set up for the homicide inquiry with any information that might help.
Investigators have no leads on the killing, which was a week ago today.
Mr Guy, was found dead by a passing motorist in the driveway of his home on Aorangi Rd, south of Feilding, last Thursday morning.
An autopsy confirmed he died from gunshot wounds.
A grieving Scott family are preparing to farewell the 31-year-old father and husband.
His funeral service will be held tomorrow at the St John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Feilding, followed by a private burial.
The church will cater for the large numbers expected by broadcasting the service outside on a large-screen television.
A wide range of people have left messages to the Guy family on a condolence website.
Campbell and Suz Bremner described the smile and zest for life of their "good mate Scotty" as "infectious".
"You made us so look forward to being parents ourselves when we saw the total and utter joy you got out of it when Hunter was born.
"We still remember your beautiful wedding day and how proud and stoked you were to be marrying beautiful Kylee - what a fantastic couple."
Another friend, Michael Mouat, said: "I knew Scott well enough to know that if Hunter and Baby get half the attributes Scott possessed they will be successful and loved beyond measure. We will all grieve for Scott but honour his legacy also."
Pat Garden talked about the dangers of living rurally. "Our rural communities have always seemed such a safe and secure environment and to be confronted with such a horrible and callous act taking the life of a loved member of the family is devastating."
