KEY POINTS:
An Auckland detective has resigned after it became known he slept with a woman he had arrested on methamphetamine charges.
Terry Reardon worked in the Auckland drug squad for eight years, and was engaged to Crown prosecutor Anna Pollett when news broke of his affair with Tarnika Howard in November, the Sunday News reported today.
Mr Reardon was involved in searching Howard's home and interviewing her on January 17 2006.
He then arrested Howard and charged her with conspiring to manufacture and supply methamphetamine.
In November, he admitted having an affair with her and resigned from the police.
Tomorrow, Mr Reardon will appear in Auckland District Court to give evidence at Howard's deposition hearing.
He told the newspaper his actions had "cost him everything".
