KEY POINTS:
The derailment of two wagons at the entrance of Ports of Auckland holding up road and rail users around the city's waterfront has been cleared.
Ontrack said the derailment happened early this afternoon when a Westfield-bound freight train derailed at the junction of the Port of Auckland and the North Island Main Trunk Line.
The wagons were cleared from the track at 5.30pm.
Rail users had been affected by the derailment and had to use buses.
A crane being used to clear the tracks on Tamaki Drive, along the waterfront, had reduced the highway to two lanes, affecting road users.
Ontrack operations manager Carl Mills apologised for the inconvenience to road and rail users.
