Derailment disrupts trains

Train services were disrupted today after a freight train derailed on the Kapiti Coast overnight.

Buses were called in to replace the Overlander service to Auckland and Capital Connection into Wellington this morning, which were both affected, KiwiRail spokesman Nigel Parry said.

He said it was not yet known what had caused the derailment, which happened near Te Horo.
