Deputy mayor John Booth has been nominated to stand for the Carterton mayor byelection.
Mr Booth has been Carterton's acting mayor since Ron Mark resigned to take up his role as an MP for NZ First.
Nominations for the mayoralty close at noon on October 28.
If no other nominations are received, Mr Booth will be elected unopposed and no byelection would be required.
Carterton District Council chief executive Colin Wright said Mr Booth had been nominated by Dick Booth and Neil Wadham.
