Strike action has been lifted by 750 Department of Labour staff after progress was made in negotiations between the department and the Public Services Association (PSA) today.
PSA national secretary Richard Wagstaff said as a result of negotiations staff lifted some of their strike action.
"We made some progress during negotiations last week so we have lifted strike notices for this week and half of next week," he said.
More than 750 workers - including border security officers, health and safety inspectors, labour inspectors and industrial mediators were due to begin a series of two-hour strikes today, these were postponed.
Staff had voted to take action during a series of meetings last month .
Mr Wagstaff said staff were seeking an improved pay offer and wanted to get rid of their current pay setting system because it was confusing, inconsistent and unfair.
Notices for two-hour strikes remain in place for June 12 and June 16.
New notices would be issued for two-hour strikes from June 17 until June 19.
